Hassier Icefang and Knav'n Saur enter the land of Pohjola under clouds of eternal night by way of The Sea of Dreams. Disembarking from the vessels that have carried them from the nearby lands of Ellundir and Tarn, they stay but an evening in the ghostly city of Rushbury Mound, at a flop house in the shanties, before quickly departing to the Serpent Forest in search of a sanctuary of a lost druidic order that snow elven legend tells once existed in the now dead Forest of Serpents.

Character Introduction [0:21:25]

Opening Scene: campaign background described, introduction of characters.

The Ramshackle [0:48:55]

Hassier and Knav'n make their way from the docks to a seedy flophouse in the dockside slums where they meet Dagon Ziss and Gilgar, two nefarious-seeming fellows.

The Logging Camp [1:34:50]

The characters make a furtive attempt to depart the city, discovering the Kings Road Inn, some farmhouses and a small fishing village before succumbing to the cold of the Pohjolan wasteland. They return to the trades ward in the city and procure cold weather clothing and fur blankets then depart again by the north road along the coast. Their curiosity overcoming them, they investigate a camp not far from the road as they approach the forest. An Orc boss tries to impress them into service, commanding slave lumber jacks after them, and sending the PC's fleeing into the dead forest.

The Fumarole [1:26:00]

The elf and kobold companions elude the loggers in the Penprie Forest, making their way deeper within and discovering a fumarole in a clearing. The warmth of the geyser has created an oasis of lush grass and living trees in the dead forest wasteland. Knav'n investigates too close and discovers a family of fire snakes living in the cracks of the stones that have erupted around the fumerole…

Gilda [0:40:52]

Overpowered by the Fire Snakes, the companions flee back to the forest, only to return hours later following the howls of living wolves as night falls. Finding a lone wolf that has entered the fumerole glade to drink, they track the beast to a volcanic hilltop where a half-elven woman and a pack of wolves howl at a rare moon seen as the soot-laden clouds part from a passing storm. Befriending Gilda, the protector of the eastern Penprie, in the morning she leads them to her cabin overlooking the Oldrock River.
