-Warjourn is joined at the Temple of St. Solonus by Lyrrid and Vaciferous Vasectomis. The drow priestess has made her way into the city using a forged writ given to her by Gilda, and the dragonborn wizard of Tarn seeks shelter in the temple to elude the Witch Taker who has tailed him since his entrance to the city. Father Beamus tells a sad tale of the slaves of his congregation going missing but not to be sacrificed, and of his suspicions of Elan Kanto. He beseeches the party to unravel the mystery of these disappearances, and why a priestess of Powatoc, Keeper of Obsidian, and guardian of the Blood Mirror of Corith, would do aught other than sacrifice his missing flock? 
  
-The party follows up a clue to the docks and stakes out a warehouse where they witness Elan Kanto, Durgan Procuro, and an acolyte secretly selling slaves to Dash Montrose, the captain of a ghost ship.  Lyyrid’s detect good reveals that one of the three at the warehouse is not evil…

-Reporting this news to Father Beamus, he insists that the party gather written proof of their suspicions that he may gain leverage to confront Elan with proof, or failing this, prove her guilt to the legates.  And so the party undertakes a daring gambit to enter the government district, and the Temple of Da-Jin itself, using the cover of a Festival of Awakening, where an apprentice of Stylus Kant, headmaster of the necromantic academy, is being recognized for his accomplishments with the gift of undeath, a ritual led by Governor Ranlan Pool himself.

-The group is confronted by the acolyte they’d seen earlier at the dockside warehouse and sent away from the Temple of Da-Jin, but not before Lyyrid has time to detect that neither he, nor Durgan are good, leaving only one suspect remaining… Elan Kanto.  Determined to break in to the temple while the festival of undead still provides them any hope of eluding capture, the party alights into the sewers and discovers a secret tunnel under the temple…
