Castle of Freya Episode 3
Leanthor has 6 remaining HP at start of game. Hassier has 9. Leanthor has 13 normal arrows, 2 flaming, and 1 mithril arrow of Eliara.
XP: Leanthor (234/300), Hassier (414/300)
Hassier has a Prayer Book of Corellan and a Code of Corellan.
Marko opened a box and finds an eye of Loothik staring at him from the bottom. There was also books of How to Train your Blinkdog, and an Elven Phrasebook, a book called Queen of the Harpies, and different curios. One box has paints and brushes. Another has 6 sweet-smelling blue candles. Another has crystal beads. Another has a beautifully carved dragon chess set. Last box has 3 finely carved wooden smoking pipes.
Leanthor grabs the 6 sweet-smelling candles.
Leanthor takes a finely carved wooden smoking pipe.
Marko has a box with an Eye of Loothik in it.
Marko picks up the Eye of Loothik instead of just picking up the box, which turns his hand and arm green. Hassier stabs the eye. With the eye destroyed, there is no longer blood in the pool, and no longer ominous lighting.
There was sunlight at the bottom of the well, which Hassier rescued Gabriel from, much like one might see dappling a lake.
Strange cells line the wall of the North room along the walls. The hallway is blocked by a waterfall of blood.
Leanthor has heard of these cells. There’s legend of Elvish priests who would isolate themselves in such cells to pray.
There are humanoid figures in the corner of the top 2 cells on the right.
Hassier is able to understand a creature in Sylvan.
There are 2 humanoid figures and a squirrel in the cells. Freya is the female aspect of Corellan, and Frey the male. It’s said that Corellan’s tears formed the first of the elves. The Misty Isle was the birthplace of the elves, and Grumpsh somehow stole the island away from the elves.
The chipmunk-thing is actually a Kersepa, according to Hassier’s knowledge. They’re intelligent squirrels that dwell in some elven forests.
The two humanoids appear to be a half-orc or an orc, or and the other an elven woman.
Hassier tries to use the key with Transmutation magic on it to open the cage door, but nothing happens. He does it again, saying “Ravanthus,” And a thin light shoots out to the 8-pointed star and removes the wall.
The lady introduces herself as Lunette Lyncian and her orcish friend Knout, and the Kersepa was Quintic.
The East room, the shrine, is a Garden of the Progyny. There’s 3 statues around the rim of a clear blue pool. There seems to be the sun shining from the ceiling.
Leanthor fires an arrow and misses. (12 arrows remaining)
Quintic fires 3 arrows and does 3 damage to one of the arms.
Gabriel uses another Lightning Lure and defeats 1 of the skeleton arms.
Gabriel defeats the other with his dagger, and the combat is over. Experience is awarded.
25 XP: Leanthor (259/300), Hassier (439/300)
The roses in the room bloom after Hassier swims down and destroys the Eye of Loothik. The roses are red, purple, and gold. Hassier prays to Freya, and the statue moves and kneels, and she proffers the mithril arrows to Hassier. Hassier gives Leanthor the two remaining arrows of Eliara.
There was a legend of the children of Freya, who smelled the roses in their garden, and the roses empowered them when they smelled them, that they became the great things they were known for.
Hassier smells the purple rose. In her vision, she swims to the bottom of the well, there’s a tunnel at the bottom of the lake, and she swims very far up to the surface. As she splashes above the surface, all around her are the heavens beautifully about her.
Hassier follows the vision like instructions, and she comes to the surface through an underground tunnel, a huge Elven palace. There’s a sail of a viking ship, like something out of a dream. She’s heard legends of the lands of the Azier, and she seems to be in Valhalla. She gains inspiration for having seen that.
Hassier is very moved having seen the very afterlife of her goddess.
Gabriel smells a gold flower and receives a kiss on the brow from Eliara, receiving a blessing of some sort. As he is kissed, he sees visions of Eliara practicing with the bow. He wishes he had a bow.
Next, he smells the red flower, and the Rose King statue touches Gabriel. He has visions and feels infused with Strength and might. All the red flowers wilt into autumn.
Leanthor also smells the gold flower. He recognizes and is able to learn from her training, and could try himself. He has advantage on archery attacks.
This long room appears to have once been a wizard’s workshop. There’s a dusty worktable against the far wall, and a hovering crystal glows in the North section. The top appears damaged, or cracked. There are objects embedded in the side of the crystal. The light glows eerily.
The crystal may be a magical container? 2 objects: 1, an Eye or Loothik; and 2, a golden elven brooch.
Hassier uses the key, “Ravanthus,” on the crystal. The blue beam reflects back and strikes Hassier with no effect. The crystal oscillates and shimmers in color. It also deflects Mage Hand.
The work desk has burn and scratch marks. There’s one drawer above where the chair fits. Opening the drawer, it appears completely empty.
There’s all sorts of alchemical equipment on these shelves. Leanthor recognizes it could be used as a laboratory of such. There’s much dust, with a big jug stoppered with a wax seal. It appears to be full of crystal clear water. It’s got an Elvish label. It reads, “Lake of Dreams, Feywild”
Leanthor takes the jug of water from the Lake of Dreams.
He also finds a collection of alchemical tools as well. We find the equivalent of what would be found in a scholar’s pack (a book of lore, a bottle of ink, and ink pen, a little bag of sand, a parchment, and a small knife), tweezers, clamps, and a celephameter.
The sphere begins to spin violently, and eventually explodes in a 15’ radius. DC 10 dex saves.
Hassier takes half damage, taking 4 (5 HP remaining)
Hassier spends a 1st level spell slot (1 left) to Cure Wounds for 9 on Marko.
The glow from the crystal seems to be from the eye itself, which is being amplified by the crystal.
Leanthor fires arrows at the crystal, letting 2 fly in total (10 remaining)
Leanthor gathers the remains of the crystal.
Gabriel takes the golden leaf brooch. When he touches it, a woman speaks in elven from the brooch, “Do you seek glory and heroic deeds?” He responds, “Yes, but only to the glory of Freya.” The emblem moves out of his hand and pins to his cloak. It says, “I am Andria, we are friends.”
The brooch calls the castle the work of Boreanis. She says she was once born by Asiandra, from the plane of Arador; so great was her courage that part of her lives on.
The far North room has a massive glowing rectangle made of water filled with blood on the back wall. Bright red clouds of blood swirl in it. A great Eye of Loothik taints a statue of Freya. There’s a horde of enemies and we’re screwed.
6 Goblins and a robed figure stand to face us. We’re screwed.
Hassier and Marko take attacks from the goblorcs. Marko gets hit, and so does Hassier. Marko takes 5. Hassier takes 6 (3 hit points remaining)
Nephilium glows blue, dealing double damage to the goblin.
Gabriel tries to cast Thunderwave, but the robed enemy eats his spell.
Leanthor fires an arrow at a goblin and kills it (9 remaining)
Hassier takes a claw from a goblorc and takes 6, she is downed.
Hassier rolls a death save and fails.
Gabriel Lightning Lures the robed figure, who eats the spell. The robed figure shouts, “Loothik, I reject you! Take me!” And falls over unconscious or dead.
Leanthor fires an arrow and kills a goblin. (8 remaining)
Knout takes a goblin claw for 4 damage.
Hassier fails a second death save.
Leanthor is able to use Medicine to stabilize Hassier.
Hassier casts Cure Wounds on herself for 10 (10 remaining)
Leanthor shoots the eye of Loothik with a mithril arrow, destroying it. The blood in the aquarium dissipates, and it is cleansed. (2 remaining)
There’s an altar and a shrine in the Northernmost room.
Hassier finds the robed figure quite dead.
50 XP each: Leanthor (309/300), Hassier (489/300)
A ring rested upon the altar, an azure ring, beneath the scroll. Andrias says the ring appeared to be the magic of Boreanis. Gabriel dawns the ring. He sees a flash of light, and can see from high above. He can’t feel his body at all. He stops moving, in full control of the castle.
The party short rests as Gabriel brings the castle to Barrowmist.
Gabriel becomes attuned to the brooch. He is compelled to be heroic. It gives him all sorts of bonuses. It appears to be some kind of Elven artifact of heroism.
The flying castle is guided to rest on figure 10 on the map of Barrowmist.
The party is left with downtime after succeeding in the adventure.
