Dwainir was the White Council member of the dwarves in the years before 7/30/553, the Summer of Wrath when Powatoc caused the great cataclysm that erupted from the Dvegar Mountains in Pohjola and covered all the lands in ash, laying waste to man and dwarf alike. In a bitter conflict within the Council, Dwainir refused to vote with the consensus and renounced his seat to journey to Pohjola in aid of his people. He was never seen or heard of again. Bruenor Battlehammer has assumed his seat.

In more recent years there have been rumors of him: Gar the Courageous of the Glory Hole Dwarven Mines had received a vision from Moradin that he yet lives, imprisoned these many years in Pohjola; and Gultec has foreseen portents in the observatory in Tulom-Itzi of falling stars from the constellation of the Lizard falling upon Pohjola which Bux’ton suspects may indicate his old friend Dark’n of the Lizard Clan Derlyni is meant to resume his vow to discover the fate of the old king…
