The most legendary jaguar knight in all of Maztica, Gultec saw the coming of the Golden Legion from the Twin Visages in the Payit, fought the white men upon the field at Ultos and fled west to Nexal where he joined the greatest lodge of jaguar knights to defend his people and indeed his culture. After witnessing the fires of Mount Zatal that destroyed Nexal, and fighting in the War of Red Giants again against the Golden Legion, he became disillusioned and fell into deep despair, wandering Maztica in jaguar form for many years and almost forgetting his humanity.

His hunting eventually led him to Tulom-Itzi, the capital of the Far Payit hidden high in the mountains. There he served Revered Councilor Zochimaloc for a time, defending the city in the War of the Endless Armies of ants awoken by the Star Worm and driven mad by Bijou Mirandos. In recent years Bux’ton came to Tulom-Itzi with his completed medicine bag and was welcomed into the jaguar lodge and trained by Gultec. Bux’ton knows him to be fiercely xenophobic, bordering on hatred of the white men who infest Maztica. He readily accepted Bux’ton’s offer from Imix, committing all of the Far Payit to serve the fire dragon against the Invincible Overlord, and Imix himself appeared and burned a swath of destruction along the Payit/Far Payit border to stop the influx of the white men…
