Lum is said to be the first incarnation of the soul now known as Powatoc. Legend tells that he sought knowledge that no mortal should have, that of the fabric of the world and fate itself, and that one time or many in the ancient past he wrested the spindle from Iscus and wove a fate of his own…

He is also associated with the Machine of Lum the Mad, a legendary artifact some think lies within the Tower of Ulission, or perhaps is the tower itself, though the contemporary Portal Lord, Dur-Adn stepped foot in the tower and told tale of a strange loom, which would be more in keeping with the legends of the Three Witches of Mermon.

In recent days Jebbin’s ghost conversed with him in Urdistau, seeking the whereabouts of Julnar and was surprised by his compassion for their plight: could this being really be one and the same as Powatoc?!
