Ronin is the adopted son of Gorlain, found in the Tegal Manor playroom in the year 543 AW 2nd Age (assumed to be about 6yrs old at the time). Now a man of 28, Ronin has not lost his rascal streak that marked his childhood, which has led him to be somewhat of a jester in the circles of the Tegal aristocracy. A fact that his elven father, Gorlain, is more patient with than most. Although his tricks are often extreme, or practical jokes, they rarely are aimed at harm or anything more than causing laughter at someone else’ expense. Via Chaz, of all those in Tegal, seems to get him the best, and often employs him for errands or merchant business.
In the care of Gorlain, Ronin has grown to be trusting and loving, and to the greater extent, forgotten the malicious ways of the Rump family. Owing to the to superior genealogy of his unknown biological parents, Ronin has grown into a hansome man, the envy of many girls, and cause of jealousy by the peers of his youth (Adrasis, Joseph). His talents seem to have no limits, save perhaps in judgment: he can be foolhardy, and never refuses a dare. If he plays at sport, he wins, if he studies booklore, runes come naturally. But as is often the case with these things, being gifted with so much natural talent, he seems to almost totally lack self-discipline and motivation. About the only thing he cannot be dissuaded from, much to his father’s annoyance is to venture in Tegal Manor. More than once in his youth, Gorlain has hauled him by the ear from his deadly playground. In heart-felt discussions afterwards, when Ronin was younger, he confided in Gorlain that he wanted desperately to know who among the Rumps his biological father was.
As a man, he has recently and successfully petitioned for the deed to Tegal Manor, owing to birthright. Runic Rump had many years previously sold it to Norasis to buy liquor, back in this drinking years. Upon Norasis’ passing, the deed became the property of the Tegal treasury, administered by Via Chaz. In a highly public hearing of the magistrates, Ronin won the title. Since then, and being far too old to be forbade to enter the manor, Ronin adventures there frequently, although not even he can safely live there, although it is obviously his intent to one day do so. He lives out of Lucias manor when not carousing with his young friends or wenching, and is the lord of the manor when his father is away. He has taken to royal life naturally and takes gawking and rumor-mongering by the townsfolk at his unusual origin in stride. Much to his father’s urging, he is careful to live honorably and decently as a noble should, and makes an effort to attend official or council functions, although his usually becomes bored early and resorts to jests and antics to pass the time. Via Chaz has partnered with Gorlain to give him a mother figure owing that his mother is almost always away in Kultaka.
Gorlain has noted that Ronin is given to fits of disorientation and fears for his sanity.
