| - | ==== Backstory ==== | ||
| - | |||
| - | Humble was a child of the City State of the Invincible Overlord. He grew up aspiring to become a swordsman of Kalanen and wear with pride the Nine Sword Starburst. In fact, in listening to the stories and legends of Kalanen that he so loved to hear, he came to believe that Kalanen could be no mere human. Kalanen had to be something more… A god. Humble, as he developed further his beliefs that Kalanen was a god, began to wear the Nine Sword Starburst he’d widdled from a block of wood not as a badge, but as a holy symbol about his neck. Having discovered his faith, he thought about the Monks of the dragon in the City State. Surely they would teach him their ways of serving their deity as a religious warrior! | ||

| - | But alas, he was turned away despite his tremendous desire to take on monastic practices in the way of Kalanen. He wished to learn the way of the sword–truly master it and with it, need not the silly binding straps, plates, bands, and scales of armor. To be able to move freely, strike faster and more accurately than any other, and hit hard as any. So he went South, into Al Qadim searching the legendary knight of Kalanen, Honorable John, to teach him the ways of the sword. | ||

| - | He showed up where he’d last heard John was with his clothes in rags, and his equipment all used or ruined. Save, of course, for his sword. Humble was quite disappointed to hear that John had returned to the city state and was moreso because on his venture there, he had vowed to himself, “I, Humble, first monk-to-be of Kalanen do swear that I will learn the ways of the sword. Master them, and not return to His nation until I have done so.” And so he ventured with John’s friend and surely an honorable… “Man,” Kabob in the beginning of his quest to bring peace to the Beastlands. | ||

| - | Still, he felt that was no way to learn the sword, and set sail for the Dark Continent, seeking a master to teach him the ways of the sword. Not before beginning his monastic training, of course, as the catfolk monks of Mytra were so kind as to teach him the basics of their ways… | ||
