Time

Extension Summary:

  • Depends On: Abilities Extension
  • Problem Solved–adds realism to how long it takes to complete Abilities in the game.
  • Mechanics Added–extends each Ability with an additional Property: Time
  • What Changes–the amount an Actor bids on an Ability becomes how long that Ability takes to complete using the terms from the Chronological Time Hierarchy.
  • Complementary Extensions– (TBD)

The Time Extension adds another property to all Abilities to indicate how long it takes for an Actor to use that ability. The Craft (Profession) Ability provides a good example where crafting a makeshift torch may take Minutes, but crafting a sword may take Days.

The Time Extension uses Property Tags, which are just one of the Chronological Time Hierarchy values, like Seconds, Minutes, Hours, etc.

Time Property Tags: Seconds, Minutes, Hours, Days, Weeks, Months, Years, Decades, Centuries, Millennia, Eons

When the Time Extension is turned on, the amount an Actor Bids on an Ability becomes how many of that time increment it takes to complete the Action. For example: if an Ability listed: Time: Minutes, and an Actor played that Ability card and Bid 3 of some Attribute, then that Ability takes 3 Minutes to complete.
