Action Sequence Increments (ASI)

Action Sequences are broken down into Action Sequence Increments (ASI) representing increments of time passing between Actions Actors take during an Action Sequence. All Action Sequences begin on ASI 0. Actors then choose what Actions they will take in response to the circumstance the GM has described to open the scene before declaring that an Action Sequence has begun. Actors are free to spend their point pools in any way they see fit to take actions, and thereby calculate when their actions will take place. Actors may take any number of actions up to the limit of their available Point Pools, although it may be advantageous not to spend all points at the outset of the sequence, as that may prevent an Actor from reacting to the outcome of actions of other Actors that take place before their point pools refresh.

Once an Actor has chosen an Action to take, and how many points they will allocate toward that Action, they calculate what ASI it will go on and announce that to the GM, putting their cards for that action face down on the table to be revealed when that ASI comes up. For Example, one actor may spend 1 ASI one the Observe Foe Action, followed by a 5 ASI sword thrust. In that case he would put two piles of card for those actions face down on the table and announce which stack goes on ASI 1, and that the other goes on ASI 6 (5 ASI after the Observe Foe Action that went on ASI 1). All other Actors repeat this process, and the GM records when each action takes place on the ASI timeline. Optionally, he may lay a counter on top of Action card piles to keep track of when they take place if there are many Actors and Actions in the Action Sequence.
